About
Warp is a modern terminal application written in Rust, built by Warp Inc. and launched publicly in 2022. It reimagines the terminal around one core concept: blocks — each command and its output are grouped into a discrete, selectable unit. You can click a block, copy its output, share it via a link, or search across it — something that is impossible in a traditional unbounded scrollback buffer.
Warp AI lets you describe what you want to do in plain English and get back the shell command, without leaving the terminal. The command palette surfaces every terminal feature through a searchable interface. Workflows save multi-step command sequences for reuse. Completions include flag descriptions, not just flag names, reducing the need to reach for --help.
Warp is GPU-accelerated (Metal on macOS), works with any existing shell (zsh, bash, fish), and fully preserves compatibility with tmux, SSH, and custom shell configs. It is free for individuals, with team features (shared Notebooks, Workflows, Warp Drive) on paid plans. macOS is the primary platform; Linux is in beta.
