About Grafana Cloud
Grafana Cloud is the fully managed version of Grafana — dashboards, unified alerting, and logs, metrics, and traces collection run by Grafana Labs. Instead of provisioning and maintaining Prometheus, Loki, and Tempo yourself, agents ship telemetry to Grafana Cloud and the dashboards just work.
It is marketed and priced as its own product, separate from the open-source Grafana you self-host. The free tier is generous enough for side projects; usage-based pricing scales up from there, which makes cost the main thing to watch compared to a fixed self-hosted setup.
That free tier is not limited to dashboards and alerting — it also bundles k6 load-testing minutes and synthetic monitoring checks, so a team can watch uptime and run performance tests from the same account. Paid tiers add Grafana OnCall for incident response and longer data retention, competing more on retention and add-ons than on the dashboarding experience itself, which stays identical to the open-source product.
