NocoDB

NocoDB is a self-hostable platform that puts a spreadsheet UI on top of a real SQL database. It connects to existing PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite databases (or provisions its own) and exposes every table through grid, kanban, gallery, form, and calendar views without touching the underlying schema. Every table also gets an instant REST API, so applications and automations can read and write the same data non-technical users are editing in the UI.

The platform targets the same use case as Airtable — lightweight app data, internal tools, CRMs, and operational trackers — but is positioned as the self-hostable, database-backed alternative: because it sits on top of standard relational databases, data isn't locked into a proprietary store and can be queried or migrated like any other Postgres or MySQL instance. Collaboration features (roles, sharing, commenting), webhooks, an ERD view for visualizing schema, and workflow automations round out the core feature set.

NocoDB is dual-licensed: the self-hosted Community edition is free under a Sustainable Use License — source-available and free to run, but restricted from being resold as a competing hosted service — while NocoDB Cloud adds managed hosting, external database connections, SSO, and higher usage limits on paid plans. Backed by venture funding and a large open-source community, it has become one of the most recognized Airtable alternatives for teams that want to own their data layer.
