About Lovable
Lovable (formerly GPT Engineer) is an AI full-stack app builder: you describe an app in a chat and it produces a working, deployable web application with a React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS frontend, with no coding needed. You iterate through follow-up prompts, a Plan Mode that discusses changes before making them, or a visual editor for direct tweaks to colours, spacing, and layout.
The backend is where it stands out. Lovable Cloud, the default for new projects, is built on Supabase and provides a PostgreSQL database, authentication, file storage, and edge functions with no separate account; Lovable writes the schema, row-level security policies, and sign-up flow from the prompt. Teams that want to own the backend can connect their own Supabase project instead. Stripe integration adds payments and subscriptions, and apps can call AI models through Lovable's built-in AI features.
For developers, GitHub sync mirrors each project to a repository in both directions, so code edited in a local IDE flows back into Lovable, and a code view inside Lovable allows targeted manual edits. Projects publish to a Lovable subdomain or a custom domain.
Pricing is credit-based and not per seat: every plan gets a small daily grant of build credits, paid plans add a monthly credit balance that also pays for Cloud hosting and in-app AI, and unused monthly credits expire after two months. Business adds SSO, workspace controls, and a training opt-out. Credits go quickly on long, iterative projects, and complex logic still needs careful review.
