About
Rork is a cloud-based AI app builder that turns plain-language descriptions into fully functional native mobile applications. Founded in 2024 and launched publicly in February 2025, it quickly became the largest AI platform for building mobile apps by web traffic.
The platform works through a conversational interface: users describe their app idea, and Rork's AI — powered by Anthropic's Claude — generates the corresponding code, UI components, and logic. The result can be previewed on a real device instantly by scanning a QR code, with no local toolchain or IDE setup required.
Rork supports two distinct output modes. The standard tier generates React Native + Expo projects that target both iOS and Android from a single codebase. Rork Max, a premium tier, generates native Swift + SwiftUI apps targeting the full Apple ecosystem: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, and iMessage extensions.
Apps can be published directly to the App Store and Google Play from within Rork's interface (developer accounts required). Generated code is fully owned by the user and can be exported as a standard project for further editing in Xcode or any other editor. GitHub integration is also available for version control.
For backend needs, Rork provides serverless function capabilities and integrates with Supabase for authentication and data storage. A built-in database and native authentication layer are on the roadmap.
Rork has raised $17.8 million across two rounds — a $2.8M pre-seed from a16z Speedrun and a $15M Series A led by Left Lane Capital, with participation from Peak XV, True Ventures, and a16z. The company is backed by the creators of React Native and Expo.
Rork is designed for non-technical founders, solo developers, and early-stage startups who need to validate a mobile product idea quickly. It performs best for apps with clear user flows and is well-suited for MVPs, internal tools, and investor demos.
