FlutterFlow

FlutterFlow is a visual development platform built on Flutter, Google's cross-platform UI framework. It lets you design, build, and deploy native mobile and web applications without writing code, while generating real, exportable Flutter and Dart source code under the hood.

The visual builder is a drag-and-drop canvas with 200+ pre-designed components such as buttons, lists, maps, and carousels, connected through a navigation system with pages that can be parameterised to show dynamic data. The Action Flow Editor is its visual logic system: you define event-driven flows (button press, page load, data change) that chain actions like navigating, calling an API, updating a variable, showing a dialog, or writing to a database, so most app logic needs no code.

Backend integration comes through built-in connectors for Firebase (Firestore, Auth, Storage, Cloud Functions), Supabase, and any REST or GraphQL API. FlutterFlow has no database of its own, so you bring your own backend.

Code export is the key differentiator. FlutterFlow generates clean, readable Flutter and Dart code that you can download at any time from the UI or the CLI, and it compiles and runs independently of FlutterFlow, which removes vendor lock-in. Deployment covers one-click publishing to the App Store and Google Play through CodeMagic, plus web hosting on a flutterflow.app subdomain or a custom domain.

Collaboration features on Growth and above include real-time multi-user editing, GitHub sync, branching, and Figma import on higher plans. FlutterFlow suits MVPs, internal tools, and apps of moderate complexity, while very complex apps with custom animations, platform-specific native integrations, or high-performance needs are usually better served by coding Flutter directly.
