FlutterFlow

FlutterFlow is a visual development platform built on top of Flutter — Google's cross-platform UI framework. It lets you design, build, and deploy native mobile and web applications without writing code, while still generating real, exportable Flutter/Dart source code under the hood.

The visual builder provides a drag-and-drop canvas with 200+ pre-designed UI components (buttons, lists, maps, carousels, custom widgets). Screens are connected through a navigation system and pages can be parameterised to receive and display dynamic data.

Action Flow Editor is FlutterFlow's visual logic system — the equivalent of writing business logic in code. You define event-driven flows (button press, page load, data change) that chain actions: navigate, call an API, update a variable, show a dialog, write to a database. No code required for the vast majority of app logic.

Backend integration is handled through built-in connectors for Firebase (Firestore, Auth, Storage, Cloud Functions), Supabase (database + auth), and any REST or GraphQL API. FlutterFlow does not include its own database — you bring your own backend.

Code export is a key differentiator: FlutterFlow generates clean, readable Flutter/Dart code that can be downloaded at any time via the UI or FlutterFlow CLI. Exported code compiles and runs independently of FlutterFlow, eliminating vendor lock-in.

Deployment supports one-click publishing to the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) via CodeMagic CI/CD integration, as well as web deployment to flutterflow.app subdomains or custom domains.

Collaboration features (Growth and above) include real-time multi-user editing, GitHub sync, branching, and Figma import, making it viable for small teams building together.

FlutterFlow is best suited for MVPs, internal tools, and apps of moderate complexity. Very complex apps with custom animations, platform-specific native integrations, or high-performance requirements are typically better served by coding Flutter directly.
