About

Make (formerly Integromat) is a visual automation platform for building multi-step workflows — called Scenarios — without code. Unlike Zapier's linear step list, Make uses a canvas where modules (app actions) are connected by lines with animated data bubbles that visually show what data flows between each step during a run, making complex logic easy to reason about.

Data transformation is Make's strongest differentiator. Built-in functions handle text manipulation, date formatting, JSON parsing, math operations, and regex — far beyond Zapier's formatter. Iterators split arrays so each item is processed individually; Aggregators collect results back into a single output. Router modules branch a scenario based on conditions, with each branch running its own module sequence.

Make was acquired by Celonis in 2022. It connects 1,500+ apps, supports minute-level scheduling, and is cloud-only. Pricing is operations-based rather than task-based, which can be more cost-effective for high-volume pipelines.

Key Features

  • Visual scenario builder with real-time data flow visualization
  • Powerful built-in data transformation and manipulation tools
  • Iterators and aggregators for complex data processing
  • Router modules for visual conditional branching
  • Per-module error handling for robust workflows
  • 1,500+ app integrations with detailed configuration options
  • Unlimited scenario complexity even on lower tiers
  • High processing speed for time-sensitive automations

Pros

  • Superior UX with beautiful visual data flow
  • More powerful data transformation than Zapier
  • Iterators/aggregators enable complex data processing
  • Visual router is more intuitive than Zapier Paths
  • Higher operation limits at similar price points
  • Better for technical/complex automations
  • Per-module error handling is more granular
  • Generally faster execution speeds

Cons

  • Fewer app integrations than Zapier (though catching up)
  • Learning curve slightly steeper due to advanced features
  • Documentation not as comprehensive as Zapier's
  • Smaller community and template library
  • Customer support can be slow on lower tiers
  • Some integrations less polished than Zapier equivalents
  • Pricing based on operations can be confusing
  • No self-hosting option

Possible Stacks

Make + Google Sheets

Project

No-code automation workflows with Make (formerly Integromat) and Google Sheets as the data layer.

Make + WordPress + Google Sheets

Project

Log WordPress form submissions and post events to Google Sheets via Make's visual scenario builder. More multi-step logic than Zapier — filter, transform, and route data before it lands in your spreadsheet.

Make + Webflow + Google Sheets

Project

Route Webflow form submissions to Google Sheets via Make's visual workflow builder. A more flexible alternative to Zapier for non-technical teams who need branching logic, data transformation, or multi-step processing before the data hits the spreadsheet.
